(There was a William
Finley that served in the 16th Calvary
Regiment , Co. D and a William in the
15th, Co. E, according to the Civil War Roster at the National Archives, but as
the History of Escambia Co. list William as Serving in the 15th Calavary
Regiment I have to feel that this carries the most weight as so many of the men
in that area served in the 15th Calavary.)

stone of John Frank (Franklin) Findley is correct then he was born before his
parents married. They married Nov. 11,
1869 and his tombstone list his birthdate as Sept.1868, but the US Census 1900
lists his birth as Aug. 1871 and there is a record of his parents marriage on
Nov 11, 1869. If he were born in Aug 1871 his next sibling would have been born
6 months after him.
