Company "C" 25th Alabama Infantry - "Shelby Confederates"
Contributed by: Stephen Barber, spbarber429@mindspring.com This company was organized September 1, 1861 at Columbiana, Alabama. It was accepted in Confederate service on September 9, 1861. It later became Company "C" of Loomis's 1st Alabama Infantry Battalion. On January 8, 1862, the 1st Alabama Infantry Battalion and McClellan's 6th Alabama Infantry Battalion combined to form the 25th Alabama Infantry Regiment. On April 10, 1865, Company "C" merged with companies "A", "B", "D" and "E" to become Company "C" of the consolidated 22nd Alabama Infantry Regiment. This command surrendered at Greensboro, North Carolina on May 1, 1865. OFFICERS POPE, WILIE HILL - Captain - Elected Captain, September 7, 1861.
