Generation No. 1

1. SAMUEL A.1 HUGGINS was born Sep 1858 in South Carolina, and died between 1900 - 1910 in Covington County, Alabama1. He married NANCY ANN TOMPKINS2 about 18743. She was born Nov 1855 in Covington County, Alabama, and died between 1900 - 1910 in Covington County, Alabama.

Notes for SAMUEL A. HUGGINS:
Sam Huggins born in South Carolina in September 1858, wife Nancy A. born November 1855 in Alabama, and nine children all born in Alabama; George W. born October 1876, William J. February 1880, Edmd (sic) E. January 1883, Nettie Jewel August 1885, Sular A. (sic) (hard to read) September 1887, Henry H. June 1889, Nobie Lee (female) May 1895, Flossie S. July 1897, and Samuel D. March 1900 lived in Andalusia, Covington County, Alabama on June 14, 1900 when the census was taken. Ten years later, Edward "Eddie" Huggins was married and had his two youngest siblings; Flossie and Samuel, living with him. This is an indication that Sam and Nancy, although young, were dead by 1910.

Burial: Five Runs Cemetery, Covington County, Alabama (Unmarked Grave)

Notes for NANCY ANN TOMPKINS:
The 1900 US census in Covington County, Alabama indicated that Nancy had given birth to thirteen children, ten of whom were living as of June 14, 1900. The Bural Family Genealogy on Ancestry.com has an additional child named Jody Albert with the same birth date, January 14, 1883, as Edmond Elbert Huggins. If this is factual, the two were twins and only Edmond survived because Jody was not on the 1900 census. There are two more deceased children prior to 1900.

6. AUDREY3 HUGGINS (EDMOND ELBERT "EDDIE"2, SAMUEL A.1)26,27 was born 04 Jan 1908 in Alabama, and died 08 Oct 1996 in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida28,29. She married OID REEVES SEGARS, SR.30,31 Abt. 192832, son of SEGARS and MAUD SEGARS. He was born 22 Sep 1902 in Florida, and died 23 Jan 1985 in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida33.

On April 19, 1910, Oid R. Segars, age 8 was living with his mother and sisters at Bonifay, Holmes County, Florida.

Oyd Seegers (sic) age 17, born in Florida, was listed as a "step-son" in Joseph Griffith's home at Florala, Covington County, Alabama on February 2, 1920 when the census was taken. Others in the home were Joseph Griffith, age 27 born in Alabama, Maud, Oyd's mother, age 38, born in Florida, Oyd's brother Wyatt age 15 and sister Gladys age 12, both born in Florida and two children from Maud's marriage to Joseph Griffith; Emma Griffith age 4 years - 11 months and Frank Griffith age 2 years - 8 months.

Oid, age 26 and wife, Audrey, age 21, a son, Oid Jr. age one year-four months and M.John Bardin (sic) a 66 year-old widow identified as "grandmother," (sic) were living at Florala, Covington County, Alabama on April 2, 1930 when the census was taken. Information in the 1910 Covington County, Alabama census and the 1920 Walton County, Florida census indicates that Mary Bardin was Audrey Huggins Segers' grandmother, not Oid's grandmother. According to the census, Oid was age 24 when married and his wife was 19, which places the marriage date about 1928. Eddie Huggins age 46 and a widower with two children; Bonnie 19 and Preston 15 lived next door. Edward (sic) Huggins 37, wife Essie 34, and children; Audre (sic) 12, Bonie (sic) 9, Preston 5, and Mary Bardin 56 a widow identified as "mother-in-law" were living together in Walton County, Florida on January 14, 1920 when the census was taken. Taken collectively, the 1920 and 1930 censuses indicate that Audrey Huggins, wife of Oid Reeves Segars, was the daughter of Edmond and Essie Bardin Huggins.

Florida Death Records list "Oid Reeves Segers, Certificate 5028, place of death Escambia County, white race, died January 23, 1985. Audrey's maiden name was originally obtained from Florida death records, which led to tying her to the Samuel Huggins family.

The U.S. Social Security Death Index lists Oid Segers, 417-03-5339, birth date September 22, 1902, death January 1985 in Florida. His last know residence was Pensacola, Florida 32506.
