The Trezvant DEGRAFFENRIED who married Rebecca HILL as mentioned on Alabama Archives surname microfilm page 00684 for DEGRAFFENRIED is likely a brother of this Abraham. Furthermore his wife Rebecca is likely a sister of Abraham's wife Mary HILL.

He was married to Mary HILL (daughter of Col. Green HILL and ??) before 1830. Abraham Maury DEGRAFFENRIED and Mary HILL had the following children:

SEVENTH GENERATION

7. Metcalfe "Mack" DEGRAFFENRIED appeared on the census in 1850 in Hancock County, Alabama. He appeared on the census in 1860 in Winston County, Alabama. He died between 1860 and 1870 in Alabama. He was born c1820 in Tennessee. "Recollections of North Alabama", p309-316. "...visiting the valley on business, he [refers to Abraham Maury DEGRAFFENRIED, father of Metcalfe "Mack" DEGRAFFENRIED] suddenly died at the house of Dr. Frank Sykes. His excellent wife never recovered from the shock, and died in less than 2 yrs thereafter. ... They had severe physical sufferings, but bore them with Christian resignation, and died in peace. The burden of the family then fell on 2 young girls, who heroically performed their parts, and educated their younger sisters and brothers, sending one of them, Metcalfe, (Mac) to a school of high grade, to be educated in medicine. But fortune frowned upon them, for the war came on, ...They had a brother [Mack DeGRAFFENRIED] who was a practising physician to aid them, when a most untoward event happened. The Doctor [Mack] was visiting a patient one day where lived a man named Briggs, who had once been in a lunatic asylum, and had been sent home as cured. While the Doctor [Mack] was stooping to arrange the fire, Briggs struck him across the back of the neck with the iron poker, and killed him."

He was married to Sarah W. S. PATRICK on 25 Nov 1855 in Lawrence County, Alabama. Sarah W. S. PATRICK was born about 1839 in Alabama. She appeared on the census in 1860 in Winston County, Alabama. She died after 1860.

EIGHTH GENERATION

10. Missouri DEGRAFFENRIED was born about 1861/62 in Alabama. She appeared on the census in 1870 in Marion County, Alabama.
