She was born 18 Jun 1863 in Coffee County, AL, and died 05 May 1944 in Union Springs, Bullock County, AL3.

Notes for JAMES EDMUND CHANCE:
James Chance was living with his older brother, Hilliard S.(tephen) Chance and nine of his siblings at Indian Creek Beat, Bullock County, Alabama on June 12, 1880 when the census was taken. His parents, Samuel and Obedia Cope Chance died in the early 1870's leaving fifteen living children.

By 1900, James had been married thirteen years and his household consisted of himself born September 1858, his wife Mandy born June 1863, and children; Cody November 1888, Pearl May 1890, Rastus February 1893, Otho November 1894, Bobbie October 1896, and Eva November 1897. The census indicated that Amanda had given birth to seven children, six were living. The deceased child must have been born between Jimmie and Erastus.

James E. 51, Amanda A. 44, Green C. 21, Jimmie P. 19, Erastus E. 17, Otho L. 15, Bobbie E. 13, Amanda E. 12, Gladys M. 5, and Mattie R. 2 lived at Bruceville, Bullock County, Alabama on April 28, 1910 when the census was taken. The census indicated James and Amanda had been married 22 years and she had given birth to ten children with eight living. Judging from the 1900 and 1910 census data, Amanda must have lost another child after Amanda Eva prior to 1900.

Alabama Death Records, 1908 - 1959 indicate James E. Chance died April 24, 1918 in Thompson County. Since there is no Thompson County, Alabama, one must assume that the entry should be Thompson, Bullock County, Alabama, a small cross road community west of Union Springs, Bullock County, Alabama.

Middle name is from James T. Burrows, family researcher. She had eight children with James Chance and there were two Fullerton children attributed to this family by Burrows.

On January 28, 1920, Mrs. Amanda A. Chance, 56, a widow, and five single children; Erastus E. 26, Bobbie E. 23, Eva M. (sic) 22, Gladys M. 14, and Ruth M. 11 were living at Bruceville, Bullock County, Alabama when the census was taken.

Amanda was living with her single son, Erastus and two of her single daughters on April 17, 1930 at Bruceville, Bullock County, Alabama when the census was taken.

Amanda A. Chance died May 5, 1944 in Bullock County, Alabama according to Alabama Deaths 1908 - 1959 (State Records). Death in 1944 is on her cemetery marker at Mt. Hilliard Baptist Church Cemetery, County Road 14, Bullock County, Alabama, but Burrows reseach has Amanda's death on June 4, 1944.
